Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert to guide the Payroll Tax Operations team. You will own complex tax escalations, approve SOPs, and coach staff to build capability while managing high-stakes issues.

In this technical leadership role, you will serve as the primary resource for TP1–TP3 staff, drive governance over SOPs, and participate in cross-functional reviews. Remote, flexible hours with overtime eligibility support workforce capacity.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax with complex defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as a lead, senior specialist, or SME with mentoring.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations and local/state programs.
• Strong writing to create and approve SOPs and technical docs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time technical expert for TP1-TP3 staff.
• Own authoring and approval of SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model.
• Lead or support daily stand-ups and team huddles.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; suggest staffing changes.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices across states and IRS issues.
• Approve complex amended Federal/State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and compliance risks; present data-driven responses.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings; ensure compliance.
