Job summary

SelectTime, in partnership with Intuit, seeks a Lead Tax Processor and SME to steer complex payroll tax cases, author SOPs, and coach staff. You will govern standards, mentor teammates, and drive continuous improvement while handling high-stakes escalations with precision.

As a virtual expert, you will oversee real-time technical support across TP1-TP3, with the authority to approve complex amended returns and ensure audit trails.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex tax defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Demonstrated lead/SME experience with coaching or mentoring junior staff.
• Advanced knowledge of tax regulations across US jurisdictions, including local/state programs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1, TP2, TP3 staff and teach resolution paths.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and daily stand-ups as needed.
• Provide independent oversight of WIP, backlog, and aging reports to guide staffing.
• Resolve severe state and federal payroll tax notices and amendments.
• Approve complex amended Federal/State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and compliance risks; communicate findings with data-driven guidance to leadership.
• Represent the team in cross-functional meetings and provide risk-informed alternatives.
