Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert to steer complex payroll tax escalations across US jurisdictions. You will own SOPs, coach staff, and act as the primary technical resource for TP1–TP3 teams, while guiding back-office operations and ensuring compliance in a fast-paced environment.

The role offers flexibility with 20–40 hours per week, remote work, and overtime eligibility. Strong writing and leadership are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax with complex defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as a lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching juniors.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations across jurisdictions.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical docs.
• Ownership of SLAs and proactive identification of red flags.
• Validation-first mindset and ability to propose solutions to leadership.
• 5+ years handling sensitive escalations with minimal guidance.
• 4+ years in contact center or back-office operations for high-volume service.
• Comfortable using AI tools to improve daily workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1/TP2/TP3 staff.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and knowledge base articles.
• Conduct structured coaching sessions quarterly to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support daily stand-ups and group QA with backup facilitation.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing needs.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices and cross-jurisdiction issues.
• Approve complex amended Federal/State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and risks; communicate with data-driven recommendations.
• Represent the team in cross-functional meetings and advise on risk.
