Job summary

SelectTime, providing virtual expert services to Intuit customers, seeks a Lead Tax Processor and SME at Level X5. You will steer complex payroll tax escalations, own SOP governance, and coach the team to reduce defects and increase capability.

This role requires a senior level of tax knowledge across US jurisdictions and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset; remote, flexible hours with overtime eligible.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex defect resolution and multi-state filings.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1, TP2, and TP3 staff; teach resolution paths to build team capability.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and daily stand-ups when needed.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; recommend staffing changes.
• Resolve severe state/federal payroll tax notices and IRS discrepancies.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and risks; communicate with data-driven recommendations.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings, upholding compliance.
