Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Mechanical Systems team for Industrial Water projects. You will lead a design team, oversee key deliverables, and ensure designs meet stringent client and code requirements across water and wastewater facilities.

You will collaborate with design teams across the US and abroad, guide technical decisions, and mentor junior engineers. This role emphasizes hands-on leadership, quality oversight, and growth within an employee-owned

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 11 years related work experience.
• Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of mechanical engineers on system design for complex industrial water/wastewater projects.
• Direct and oversee the development of engineering deliverables including P&IDs, equipment layouts, piping isometrics, equipment data sheets, and specs.
• Provide technical guidance on engineering calculations to size equipment and ensure performance targets.
• Ensure designs comply with standards, client requirements, and codes.
• Review submittals, calculations, shop drawings, and documentation for project requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical coaching.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders across projects.
• Understand the Industrial Water industry and adapt to different delivery methods.
