Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a highly motivated Staff Mechanical Engineer to join the Mechanical Systems team for Industrial Water projects. You will lead a design team and coordinate with US and international teams across the project lifecycle.

The role focuses on planning, design, specification, procurement support, and construction assistance for pumps, piping, and related systems used in water and wastewater facilities. Excellent leadership, communication, and technical skills are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and 5+ years related work experience.
• Active engineering registration or licensure (EOR) required.
• Experience with industrial water/wastewater facilities, desalination, or related projects.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to mentor teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of mechanical engineers on system design for industrial water/wastewater projects.
• Oversee development of deliverables: P&IDs, equipment layouts, piping isometrics, data sheets, specs.
• Provide technical guidance on engineering calculations to size equipment.
• Ensure designs comply with standards, codes, and project requirements.
• Review vendor/subcontractor submittals and technical documentation for compliance.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and act as Responsible Engineer for mechanical systems.
• Coordinate with other design disciplines and stakeholders across projects.
• Understand Industrial Water industry and adapt to different delivery methods.
• Manage multiple assignments in a dynamic project environment.
