Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the Mechanical Systems team for Industrial Water projects in a staff role. The candidate will oversee design, specification, and procurement activities across water/wastewater facilities, desalination, and related utility infrastructure.

The position requires strong technical leadership, collaboration across US and international teams, and the ability to manage scope, schedule, and budget while mentoring

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• 11+ years of related experience in mechanical engineering for water/wastewater projects.
• Experience designing, leading, and reviewing industrial water treatment facilities.
• Active engineering registration/licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a design team of mechanical engineers on water/wastewater projects.
• Develop and review P&IDs, equipment layouts, piping isometrics, and specs.
• Provide technical guidance on equipment sizing and system performance.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and manage scope, schedule, and budget.
• Support project delivery methods and risk management.
