Job summary

Jabil in Prince George, Virginia, seeks a Principal Engineer for LV switchgear mechanical design. You will be the senior technical authority on mechanical architecture, validation strategy, and lifecycle support for low‑voltage switchgear and power distribution products.

You will collaborate with customers, global teams, manufacturing, sourcing, and regulatory bodies to meet safety, quality, cost, and schedule targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• 12+ years of mechanical engineering experience in LV switchgear or power distribution products.
• Senior technical leadership across multiple NPIs, product platforms, or launches.
• Advanced CAD proficiency in 3D CAD platforms and design release discipline.
• Knowledge of sheet metal design, busbar systems, tolerances, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with FEA/CFD, thermal analysis, and environmental testing.
• Experience with seismic design and service entrance equipment.

Responsibilities

• Own and govern the mechanical architecture strategy for LV switchgear and power distribution equipment.
• Translate requirements into scalable specifications, roadmaps, and release deliverables.
• Lead system-level mechanical architecture decisions for enclosures, busbars, insulation, and safety features.
• Provide technical direction for thermal engineering activities and validation testing.
• Define mechanical design criteria for structural integrity, coatings, and accessibility.
• Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and engineering change across programs.
• Ensure compliance with UL/IEC/IEEE/NEMA standards and customer specs.
