Job summary

Jabil in Prince George, Virginia seeks a Principal Engineer – Low Voltage Switchgear Mechanical to serve as the senior technical authority for mechanical architecture, design governance, validation, and lifecycle support of LV switchgear products.

You will lead cross-functional teams, align with customers, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and regulatory to meet safety, reliability, cost, and schedule targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• 12+ years of mechanical engineering experience in low-voltage switchgear or power distribution products.
• Advanced CAD proficiency across 3D CAD platforms (Creo/S SolidWorks/Inventor).
• Experience with tolerance stack-up, GD&T, welding design, sheet metal, and manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Own and govern the mechanical architecture strategy for LV switchgear and power distribution equipment.
• Translate requirements into specifications, roadmaps, and release deliverables.
• Lead design decisions for enclosure systems, busbar interfaces, insulation, and seismic features.
• Guide concept development, prototype builds, verification, and production release across programs.
• Drive DFx initiatives and support manufacturing readiness and design transfer.
• Lead risk reviews and mentor engineering teams to improve standards and reuse.
