Job summary

Jabil is seeking a Principal Engineer - Low Voltage Switchgear Mechanical in Prince George, Virginia. The role is the senior technical authority for mechanical architecture, validation strategy, and lifecycle support across LV switchgear products.

You will lead cross-program technical direction, partner with global teams, and drive design decisions from concept through production release, ensuring safety, quality, cost targets, and platform reuse.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• 12+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including LV switchgear or power distribution products.
• Advanced CAD proficiency with Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent 3D CAD platforms.
• Knowledge of sheet metal, busbar systems, insulation interfaces, and manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Own and govern the mechanical architecture strategy for LV switchgear and power distribution equipment.
• Translate requirements into scalable engineering specifications and roadmaps.
• Lead system-level mechanical architecture decisions for enclosure systems and related hardware.
• Provide technical direction for thermal design, including CFD and heat dissipation analysis.
• Define and govern mechanical design criteria, GD&T, and assembly methods.
• Guide design for manufacturing and value engineering across programs.
• Ensure compliance with UL, IEC, NEMA, IEEE, and customer specs.
