Job summary

Jabil is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer for LV switchgear in Prince George, Virginia. The role leads mechanical architecture, design governance, and validation across programs, partnering with customers, global teams, and manufacturing to meet safety, quality, cost, and reliability targets.

The candidate will drive DFx initiatives, oversee design transfer, and ensure compliance with UL/IEC standards while guiding early concept through production release.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• 12+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including LV switchgear, switchboards, MCCs, or power distribution.
• Demonstrated senior technical leadership across multiple NPI programs and product launches.

Responsibilities

• Own and govern the mechanical architecture strategy for LV switchgear and power distribution equipment.
• Translate requirements into scalable specifications, roadmaps, and release deliverables.
• Lead system-level architecture decisions for enclosures, busbar systems, insulation interfaces, and safety features.
• Provide technical direction for thermal design, airflow, CFD modeling, and thermal validation testing.
