Job summary

Kin Insurance is seeking an Insurance Counsel - Forms to draft policy language for new state launches and product lines. You’ll own your line (personal auto or property) and provide legal guidance on form wording and regulatory interactions.

JD plus 5+ years in forms drafting, with experience across multiple states, and the ability to review and improve state filing packages. Remote-first role with collaboration across Kinfolk and regulators.

Qualifications

• JD and 5+ years of policy form drafting experience or related coverage interpretation.
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
• Experience reading state statutes/regulations and converting to policy language.
• Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and translate into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to regulator objections on form filings.
• Advise internal partners on coverage interpretation and form wording.
• Draft state and product forms packages including base policies and endorsements.
• Perform first-pass legal review of drafted forms and escalate novel questions.
• Build and maintain countrywide base forms and state kit for your line.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language to speed up packages.
• Deliver internal training on policy forms and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
• Identify legal risks in product designs before form drafting.
• Review AI-assisted drafts for legal accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain forms packages in response to statutes and DOI bulletins.
