Job summary

Kin Insurance is seeking an Insurance Counsel - Forms to own policy language as Kin expands into new states and products. You will draft base policies, endorsements, and state amendments, while serving as a regulatory advisor to internal teams.

You’ll lead drafting for your line, review forms, and provide guidance on coverage interpretation, leveraging your JD and 5+ years of forms drafting experience.

Qualifications

• JD required
• 5+ years of policy form drafting or equivalent experience
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states
• Ability to read state statutes/regulations and translate to policy language
• Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings
• Advising internal partners on coverage interpretation and form wording
• Track record drafting complete forms packages independently

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and regulations and translate into compliant policy wording
• Draft responses to regulator objections and advocate for Kin's position
• Provide legal advice on coverage interpretation to internal partners
• Draft complete state and product forms packages for your line
• Perform first-pass legal reviews and escalate novel state law questions
• Build and maintain countrywide base forms and state kits
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language for faster future work
• Deliver internal training on policy forms and regulatory expectations
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business
• Identify legal risks in product designs before drafting stage
• Review AI-assisted drafts for legal accuracy and compliance
• Update forms packages in response to statutes and product changes
