Job summary

Kin Insurance seeks an Insurance Counsel - Forms to drive aggressive state and product expansion through drafting filing-ready policy language. You will anchor a line (personal auto or property) and back up the other, serving as a trusted legal advisor on form wording and regulatory interactions.

You will research statutes, draft state packages, review AI drafts for compliance, and build reusable language to speed future filings. This remote-first role supports Kin’s growth across many states.

Qualifications

• JD required with 5+ years of policy form drafting or related coverage interpretation.
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
• Ability to translate statutes into clear, filing-ready policy language.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and translate into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to DOI objections and advocate for Kin's position with regulators.
• Advise internal partners on coverage interpretation and form wording during audits.
• Draft complete state and product forms packages, including base policies, endorsements, state amendatory endorsements, and notices.
• Perform first-pass legal review of forms and elevate novel state law questions.
• Build and maintain countrywide base forms and state kits for your line.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language for faster future filings.
• Design and deliver internal training on policy forms, coverage interpretation, and state regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
• Identify legal risks in proposed product designs before drafting.
• Review AI-assisted drafts for accuracy and set guardrails for AI use.
• Maintain and update forms with new statutes and DOI bulletins and product changes.
