Job summary

Kin Insurance seeks an Insurance Counsel - Forms to craft and file comprehensive policy language as we expand into new states and launch products. You will own form drafting for your line (personal auto or property) and advise on regulatory interpretations while serving as a back-up for the other line.

You will advise internal teams, review regulator objections, and develop standards and reusable language to speed future filings. A JD and 5+ years drafting experience are required.

Qualifications

• A JD degree is required.
• 5+ years of policy form drafting experience, or a mix of drafting and coverage interpretation.
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
• Experience reading state insurance statutes and regulations directly and translating requirements into policy language.
• Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings.
• Experience advising business stakeholders on coverage interpretation and policy wording.
• Track record of drafting complete forms packages independently, from research to filing-ready.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and translate them into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections on forms and advocate Kin's position with regulators.
• Provide legal advice on coverage interpretation and form wording to internal partners.
• Draft complete new state and product forms packages for your line of business, ready for filing.
• Perform first-pass legal review of forms and elevate novel state law questions to Senior Insurance Counsel.
• Maintain the countrywide base forms and reusable state kit for your line of business.
