Job summary

Kin Insurance is seeking an Insurance Counsel - Forms to drive state and product expansion with policy language that stands up to review. You’ll own drafting for your line, anchor regulatory interactions, and provide guidance on coverage interpretation for Kin’s internal teams.

You will draft base policies, endorsements, amendments, and notices, while ensuring compliance across jurisdictions and managing timelines for filings. A JD with 5+ years of drafting experience is required.

Qualifications

• JD and 5+ years of policy form drafting experience.
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
• Experience reading state insurance statutes and converting requirements into policy language.
• Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and regulations and translate them into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections on forms and advocate Kin's position with regulators.
• Provide legal advice on coverage interpretation and form wording to internal partners.
• Draft complete new state and product forms packages for your line of business, including base policies and endorsements.
• Perform first-pass legal review of forms and elevate novel state law questions to Senior Insurance Counsel.
• Build and maintain base forms and state kits for your line of business.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language for faster state packages.
• Design and deliver internal training on Kin's policy forms and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
• Identify legal risks in product designs before form drafting.
• Review AI-assisted drafts for accuracy and set guardrails for AI usage.
• Maintain and update forms packages in response to statutes, regulations, and DOI bulletins.
