Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced inpatient coder to handle complex documentation and assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes. You will ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations, while supporting CDI and quality teams in DRG alignment.

The role requires 7 years of inpatient coding in acute care, AHIMA or AAPC certification, and strong knowledge of medical terminology. Remote work options may be available for qualified applicants.

Qualifications

• 7 years' inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting.
• Certification required: AAPC or AHIMA.
• Advanced proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Ensure correct code selection according to Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Participate in payer audits and coding-related meetings; support CDI initiatives.
• Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement and Quality teams to align DRG with Medicare cases.
• Maintain ongoing education to stay current with coding clinics and CPT guidelines.
