Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced inpatient coder to join the Enterprise Revenue Cycle – Coding Production Operations team. The role focuses on complex inpatient coding using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS within a 40-hour work week.

You will code high-dollar, long-stay cases, maintain high quality and productivity, and collaborate with CDI and QA teams to ensure accurate DRG assignments. Remote work is possible from approved states.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in health information management or related field required.
• 7 years inpatient coding experience in acute care with revenue cycle exposure.
• Certification must be AAPC or AHIMA.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure correct code selection per Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Code high-dollar and long-stay cases across patient types.
• Clarify documentation with queries when needed.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to match DRGs.
• Maintain ongoing education on CPT guidelines and coding clinics.
• Adhere to Standards of Ethical Coding and government rules.
• Meet quality targets and productivity standards.
