Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to join the 10407 Enterprise Revenue Cycle team. The role involves reviewing complex inpatient documentation and assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes with strong attention to coding guidelines and compliance.

You will work with CDI and clinical teams to ensure accurate DRG reconciliation and support high-dollar cases, while maintaining ongoing professional development through webinars and coding clinics.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• 7 years inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting.
• Certification in coding (AAPC or AHIMA).
• Advanced knowledge of ICD, CPT and HCPCS guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnoses and procedures.
• Ensure correct code selection following coding guidelines and regulations.
• Code high-dollar and long-stay cases across patient types.
• Collaborate with CDI and QA teams to reconcile DRGs.
• Maintain ongoing education on CPT and coding clinics.
