Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to manage complex documentation and assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes. You will support CDI and Quality teams and ensure compliant coding practices.

The role requires AAPC or AHIMA certification and an Associate's degree in Health Information Management, with 7+ years of inpatient coding experience in acute care. Remote work options are available for eligible states.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Maintain compliance with Official Coding Guidelines and federal and payer regulations.
• Code high-dollar, long-stay cases across patient types; support DRG reconciliation with CDI/Quality teams.
• Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement and Quality teams to ensure accurate coding and reimbursement.
