Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to join the Enterprise Revenue Cycle team in Inpatient Coding Operations. The role covers complex reviews and accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding across service lines such as cardiology, neurology, and oncology.

Requires an associate degree in Health Information Management, 7 years inpatient coding experience in acute care, and coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA. Full-time, 40 hours/week.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• 7 years inpatient coding experience in acute care facility.
• Coding Certification issued by AAPC or AHIMA.

Responsibilities

• Reviews complex inpatient documentation to assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Adheres to Official Coding Guidelines and regulations; uses EMR/CAC software to ensure compliance.
• Codes high-dollar and long-stay cases; maintains quality standards (≥95%) and productivity (≥100%).
• Acts as SME to Coding department leaders and peers; suggests policy updates as needed.
• Maintains ongoing education by reviewing updated CPT guidelines and coding clinics; researches coding topics.
