Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to support the Enterprise Revenue Cycle with coding production operations. The role focuses on complex inpatient documentation across cardiology, neurology, and oncology service lines, employing ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS within an EMR environment.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of inpatient coding, holds AAPC or AHIMA certification, and possesses strong communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years inpatient coding experience in acute care.
• Associate degree required in Health Information Management or related field.
• Certification required: AAPC or AHIMA.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Code high-dollar and long-stay cases with accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to ensure DRG accuracy and Medicare reconciliation.
• Maintain continuing education and adherence to ethical coding standards.
• Meet productivity and quality targets (DNFB support).
