Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to support complex documentation and accurate coding across multiple service lines. The role requires certification from AAPC or AHIMA, an associate degree in health information management, and at least seven years of inpatient coding in an acute care setting.

You will work within Revenue Cycle coding operations to ensure compliant, high‑quality coding and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

• Requires Coding Certification by AAPC or AHIMA.
• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• Typically requires 7 years inpatient coding experience in acute care with revenue cycle exposure.

Responsibilities

• Code high-dollar, long-stay inpatient cases using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Adhere to Official Coding Guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to match DRG and reconcile Medicare cases.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity targets (≥95% quality, ≥100% productivity).
