Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder to review complex inpatient documentation and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes. You will ensure compliance with official guidelines and work within EMR systems to support accurate reimbursements.

The role requires 7 years of inpatient coding experience, a coding certification (AAPC or AHIMA), and an Associate's degree in Health Information Management. Remote work options available across multiple states.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency of ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and email.

Responsibilities

• Reviews complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS.
• Adheres to Official Coding Guidelines and regulations using EMR software.
• Code high-dollar, long-stay cases across patient types.
• Collaborates with CDI and Quality teams to match DRGs and reconcile Medicare cases.
