Advocate Health seeks an experienced inpatient coder to handle complex documentation and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes. The role requires 7+ years in acute care coding, AHIMA or AAPC certification, and an RHIM-related degree. Remote work is possible for qualified applicants within approved states.

The position focuses on high-dollar cases, adherence to coding guidelines, and collaboration with CDI and Quality teams to ensure accurate DRG matching and compliant reimbursement.

Qualifications

• 7 years inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility.
• Certification required by AAPC or AHIMA.
• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Reviews complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Ensures correct code selection following Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Maintains coding accuracy to support DNFB and quality metrics.
• Collaborates with CDI and Quality teams to match DRGs and Medicare cases.
