Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced inpatient coder to join the Enterprise Revenue Cycle in Montana. You will code inpatient records using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS while ensuring accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines.

The role requires coding certifications (AAPC or AHIMA) and an Associate’s degree in Health Information Management, with about 7 years of inpatient coding experience in acute care. Full-time, on-site with potential remote eligibility in listed states.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency with ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Strong medical terminology, anatomy and physiology knowledge.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and email.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes.
• Ensure correct code selection per Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Code high-dollar and long-stay cases across patient types.
• Query clinicians for documentation gaps and follow-up on clarifications.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to align DRG and Medicare cases.
• Maintain continuing education and research coding topics.
