Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to join the 10407 Enterprise Revenue Cycle - Coding Production Operations team. You will review complex inpatient documentation and assign diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.

Qualified candidates hold a coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA, an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management, and about 7 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Requires coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA.
• Associate degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• Typically 7 years inpatient coding experience in acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure code selection follows Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Code high dollar and long stay cases with accuracy and speed.
• Maintain knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM/PCS and coding clinics; pursue ongoing education.
