Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to support the 10407 Enterprise Revenue Cycle team. The role covers inpatient community and academic coding across cardiology, neurology, and oncology service lines, requiring high proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding.

You will work with CDI and Clinical Documentation teams to ensure accurate DRG assignments, maintain coding quality, and participate in payer audits and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• Coding Certification by AAPC or AHIMA is required.
• 7+ years inpatient coding experience in acute care.
• Experience with revenue cycle processes and CDI.
• Ability to code complex inpatient cases using ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Ensure correct code selection following Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Code high dollar and long length of stay cases.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to match DRG and Medicare cases.
• Maintain ongoing education on CPT guidelines and coding clinics.
• Meet quality and productivity standards (95% quality, 100% productivity).
