Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Senior IBM COBOL Developer to support our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) client. This is a remote position; candidates must possess an active Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI).

Essential duties include leading software development, coding and unit testing COBOL modules, updating documentation, and mentoring teammates. Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; 5+ years of experience preferred.
• Active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) required.
• Proficient in IBM COBOL with DB2 and CICS experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of software solutions and design modules per system specs.
• Perform coding, unit testing, debugging, and integration of COBOL programs.
• Prepare and maintain documentation such as FSPs/PRPs and diagrams.
• Provide guidance to junior developers and support production issues.
• Interact with management and engineers to clarify program intent and improvements.
