Job summary
Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior System Protection Engineer to join our Grid Services team. This role emphasizes system protection engineering, including relay settings, protection philosophies, and power system studies, with a secondary role in supporting substation P&C design for HV transmission projects.
Responsibilities include leading protection philosophy development, fault studies, relay configuration, and data management in Powerbase.
Qualifications
- ABET/Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent.
- 7+ years in system protection engineering for transmission/substation.
- Experience with relay settings, protection studies, and fault analysis.
- Familiarity with CAPE/ASPEN or equivalent tools.
- Experience with relay configuration tools and P&C drawings.
Responsibilities
- Lead protection philosophy development and settings for lines, transformers, buses, and capacitor banks.
- Perform short‑circuit studies, relay coordination, and time‑current curve development.
- Configure and troubleshoot microprocessor relays using vendor software.
- Utilize Powerbase to manage relay records and data; align with client standards.
- Support field commissioning and fault investigations; ensure compliance with standards.
