Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior System Protection Engineer to join our Grid Services team. You will lead protection philosophies, settings, and power system studies for transmission and substation projects, and support P&C design documents with coordination to field commissioning and testing.

You will configure and troubleshoot microprocessor relays, perform fault studies, and review protection data in Powerbase, CAPE/ASPEN, and vendor software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program (or equivalent).
• 7+ years of experience in system protection engineering for transmission/substation projects.
• Experience with protection studies and relay logic across line/transformer/bus protection.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection philosophies and settings for transmission lines, transformers, buses, and switchgear.
• Perform short-circuit analysis, relay coordination, and time-current curve development.
• Configure and troubleshoot microprocessor-based relays using vendor software.
• Review P&C design documents and coordinate with substation teams.
• Support commissioning, field energization, and site QA/QC.
