Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior System Protection Engineer to join our Grid Services team. The role focuses on relay settings, protection philosophies, and power system studies, with a secondary role supporting substation protection and control design for high‑voltage projects.

You will work on protection studies, event analysis, and coordination using CAPE, ASPEN, and related tools, while collaborating with clients, manufacturers, and field teams.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of system protection experience for transmission/substation projects.
• Hands‑on relay settings and protection studies experience.
• Knowledge of protection philosophies for lines, transformers, buses, breakers.
• Experience with CAPE/ASPEN or equivalent protection analysis tools.
• Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, and NERC/PRC standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead system protection studies and relay settings development.
• Review P&C design documents: one‑lines, schematics, wiring and panel layouts.
• Coordinate with substation teams and clients to meet schedules and quality.
• Support commissioning, field questions, and issue resolution during construction.
