Job summary

YA Group is seeking a Senior Accident Reconstructionist to work with expert staff on vehicular accident reconstructions. The role involves traveling to sites, utilizing specialized software, and collaborating with forensic animators to build 3D models for trial exhibits.

It is a fully remote position open to candidates across the United States. Ideal candidates have extensive experience in forensic reconstruction, a Mechanical Engineering degree, and active PE/ACTAR/SAE certifications, with

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in forensic accident reconstruction required.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Valid PE license, ACTAR certification, and/or SAE certification required.
• Demonstrated experience calculating impact and departure speeds, collision forces, and trajectories.
• Background in automotive engineering and automotive control systems.
• Experience supporting insurance, legal, and claims clients.
• Experience with computer simulations and CAD tools.
• Prior deposition and courtroom testimony experience a plus.
• Based in (or planning to relocate to) the job location.
• Willingness to travel and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct accident investigations by traveling to and documenting accident scenes, downloading data recorders, and analyzing with crash software.
• Initiate client contact and build rapport with insurers, lawyers, and adjusters.
• Communicate with clients regarding scope of work, budget, and timelines.
• Provide expert testimony in depositions or trials when requested.
• Perform vehicular investigations using 3D laser scanners, photography, drones, and measurements.
• Analyze vehicle crush patterns and research vehicle data and history.
• Process 3D laser scan data on engineering workstations.
• Collaborate with forensic animators to develop scaled 3D crash drawings.
• Use PC Crash or similar software to simulate collisions.
• Apply engineering principles and momentum equations to compute speeds, forces, and trajectories.
• Compare calculations with crash test reports to relate damages to speed.
• Create reports detailing reconstruction processes and conclusions for clients.
• Review literature and journals to advance techniques in reconstruction.
