Job summary

YA Group seeks a Senior Managing Accident Reconstructionist to lead a team in reconstructing vehicular accidents. The role requires extensive forensic engineering expertise, traveling to accident sites, and using specialized software to build 3D models for trial exhibits and expert testimony.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 10+ years in biomechanics, accident reconstruction, premises liability or related work.
• PE license, ACTAR and/or SAE certification.
• Advanced expertise in collision dynamics (impact/departure speeds, forces).
• Strong background in automotive engineering and control systems.
• Extensive experience with insurers, attorneys, and adjusters.
• Experience performing computer simulations.
• Proficient in CAD.
• Deposition/testimony experience is a plus.
• Based in or relocating to the job location.
• Team-oriented with collaborative mindset.
• Willingness to travel to remote site locations.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of experts in accident investigations across sites.
• Manage large, complex projects from start to finish.
• Support business development by maintaining client relationships.
• Promote company skills at conferences and events.
• Communicate scope, tasks, budgets, and timelines to clients.
• Ensure even workload distribution among experts.
• Mentor team members and review work for quality.
• Provide expert testimony in depositions or trials when requested.
• Perform vehicular investigations using scene documentation and data tools.
• Analyze crash patterns and related research (vehicle specs, tests, history).
• Process 3D laser scan data and develop 3D drawings with forensic animators.
• Use collision software to simulate accidents and compute dynamics.
• Apply engineering principles to calculate speeds, forces, trajectories.
• Compare results with crash test reports to verify conclusions.
• Create client reports detailing reconstruction process and findings.
• Travel to remote sites as needed.
