Job summary

YA Group is seeking a Senior Managing Accident Reconstructionist to lead a national remote team focused on vehicular accident reconstruction. The role requires extensive experience, travel to sites, and collaboration with forensic animators to build 3D models for trial exhibits.

Candidates should bring a Mechanical Engineering degree, 10+ years in biomechanics or related fields, and certifications (PE/ACTAR/SAE). Expect leadership duties, client development, and courtroom testimony participation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
• 10+ years of experience in biomechanics, accident reconstruction, premises liability, or related work
• PE license, ACTAR certification, and/or SAE certification
• Advanced expertise in collision dynamics including impact and departure speeds, forces, and trajectories
• Strong background in automotive engineering and control systems
• Extensive experience working with insurance carriers, attorneys, and/or adjusters
• Experience performing computer simulations
• Highly proficient in CAD
• Prior deposition and courtroom testimony experience a plus
• Based in (or planning to relocate to) the job location
• Enjoys working in a team environment and has a passion for learning
• Willingness to travel to remote site locations as needed

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of experts in conducting accident investigations by traveling to and documenting accident scenes
• Download vehicle data recorders and perform crash analyses using specialized software
• Provide written conclusions and litigation support for clients
• Manage large, complex projects from start to finish
• Support business development and build client rapport to generate work
• Represent company at conferences and promote staff capabilities
• Communicate scope, tasks, budgets, and timelines to clients and team
• Ensure balanced workload across experts and timely deliverables
• Mentor and guide staff on all project aspects
• Provide expert testimony in depositions or trials if requested
• Perform vehicular investigations using 3D laser scanners, photos, drones, and measurements
• Create 3D drawings and animations with forensic animators
• Use PC_Crash or similar software for simulations of collisions
• Apply engineering principles to compute speeds, forces, trajectories
• Compare calculations with crash test reports to validate findings
• Produce client-ready reports detailing reconstruction processes and conclusions
• Contribute to research papers and journals to advance techniques
