Job summary

YA Group is seeking a Senior Managing Accident Reconstructionist to lead a expert staff in vehicular accident reconstruction. The role requires extensive forensic engineering experience and willingness to travel to accident sites across the United States.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 10+ years of experience in biomechanics, accident reconstruction, premises liability, or related work.
• PE license, ACTAR certification, and/or SAE certification.
• Advanced expertise in collision dynamics (impact/departure speeds, forces, trajectories).
• Strong background in automotive engineering and control systems.
• Extensive experience with insurance carriers, attorneys, and/or adjusters.
• Experience performing computer simulations.
• Proficiency in CAD.
• Prior deposition and courtroom testimony experience is a plus.
• Based in (or willing to relocate to) the job location.
• Willingness to travel to remote site locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of experts in conducting accident investigations by traveling to scenes and documenting them.
• Manage large, complex projects from start to finish.
• Support business development by building rapport with clients and generating new work.
• Promote company skills at conferences and events.
• Communicate scope, budget, tasks, and timelines to clients and team.
• Ensure workload is evenly distributed among experts.
• Mentor and guide staff in project work.
• Provide expert testimony in depositions or trials when requested.
• Perform vehicular investigations using 3D laser scanners, photography, drones, and EDR data.
• Analyze crash patterns and research vehicle data and history.
• Process 3D scan data and develop 3D crash scene drawings with forensic animators.
• Use PC Crash or similar software to simulate collisions.
• Apply engineering principles to calculate speeds, forces, and trajectories.
• Compare calculations with crash test reports to validate results.
• Create client reports detailing reconstruction methods and conclusions.
• Deliver reports to help determine contributory factors.
