Job summary

Public Library of Science (PLOS) seeks a Senior Editor, Publication Ethics to investigate and resolve ethics issues across PLOS journals. This fully remote role accepts applications from the US and UK, with a 12‑month FTC.

You will support journal teams, contribute to policy development, and train staff on ethics case management. Strong communication, organization, and knowledge of COPE standards are essential; image forensics expertise is a plus.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in a scientific discipline.
• Experience in an editorial or publication ethics role in STM publishing.
• First-hand experience resolving publication ethics cases in STM publishing.
• Familiarity with COPE standards and guidance.
• Preferred: expertise in image forensics and trainings.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve publication ethics cases across PLOS journals.
• Provide ethics support to journal teams and train staff as needed.
• Contribute to team and cross-functional initiatives on ethics and integrity.
• Communicate ethics case developments to stakeholders effectively.
• Uphold high professional standards in all communications.
