Public Library of Science is seeking a Senior Editor, Publication Ethics for a fully remote role. You will investigate and resolve ethics cases across PLOS journals, provide ethics support to journal teams, and contribute to policy development and integrity initiatives.

In the Publication Ethics team’s standard case group, you will handle issues such as image/data integrity, authorship disputes, and data ownership questions, coordinating with editors, authors, and COPE guidance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline.
• Experience in an editorial or publication ethics role in science, technical, and medical (STM) publishing.
• First-hand experience resolving publication ethics cases in STM publishing.
• Post-graduate research experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Resolve publication ethics cases efficiently and in line with PLOS standards and COPE guidance.
• Provide timely support for others’ publication ethics case work and address escalations.
• Contribute to team-level and cross-functional initiatives addressing ethics and integrity issues.
• Support journal staff editors in resolving ethics issues during manuscript handling, peer review, or post-publication.
• Communicate rapidly with stakeholders including editors, authors, and other teams.
• Participate in internal discussions about publication ethics and related issues.
• Attend COPE Forums within working hours and assist with recruitment and onboarding.
• Uphold high standards of professionalism in all communications.
