The Public Library of Science is seeking a Senior Editor, Publication Ethics, to investigate and resolve ethics cases across PLOS journals. You will support journal teams and contribute to policy development in a fully remote role, with eligibility for candidates in multiple regions.

Responsibilities include handling cases per COPE guidance, training staff, and collaborating with editors and authors to uphold publication integrity.

Formación

• Master’s degree or PhD (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline.
• Experience in an editorial or publication ethics role in STM publishing.
• First-hand experience resolving publication ethics cases in STM publishing.
• Knowledge of COPE standards and guidance.
• (Preferred) Post-graduate research in a scientific, clinical, or social sciences discipline.

Responsabilidades

• Resolve publication ethics cases efficiently and in line with COPE guidance.
• Provide publication ethics support to journal teams and resolve escalations.
• Contribute to team initiatives, policy updates, and workflow improvements.
• Support journal staff editors in resolving ethics issues during manuscript handling, peer review, or post-publication.
• Communicate rapidly with stakeholders including editors, authors, and other teams.
• Participate in cross-team discussions on research integrity and ethics.
• Attend COPE Forums within working hours where possible.
• Contribute to recruitment and onboarding for vacant team positions and provide training.
• Maintain high standards of professionalism in communications about ethics issues.
