Job summary

Public Library of Science is seeking a Senior Editor, Publication Ethics for a fully remote, 12-month FTC position. You will investigate 和 resolve publication ethics cases across PLOS journals and provide ethics support to journal teams.

You’ll contribute to policies, training, and cross-team ethics initiatives, while communicating effectively with editors, authors, and stakeholders globally. Experience with COPE standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline.
• Experience in an editorial or publication ethics role in STM publishing.
• First-hand experience resolving publication ethics cases in STM publishing.
• Familiarity with COPE standards and guidance.
• (Preferred) Post-graduate research in a scientific, clinical, or social sciences discipline.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve publication ethics cases across PLOS journals.
• Provide ethics support to journal teams and handle escalations.
• Contribute to workflows, policies, and cross-team initiatives on ethics.
• Support editors during manuscript handling, peer review, or post-publication.
• Communicate ethics issues clearly with stakeholders and leadership.
• Participate in COPE forums and ongoing ethics discussions.
• Assist with recruitment and onboarding for ethics team roles.
