Job summary

Affirm is modernizing data infrastructure to support a remote-first team across OLTP/OLAP, data pipelines, and semantic tooling. The role focuses on the platform and applications layer, building reliable data services, secure access patterns, and self-service capabilities for affirmers at scale.

You will contribute to integrations, governance, and observability while shaping the roadmap for agentic data tooling and AI-native workflows within a flexible, remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating cloud analytical data platforms including access control, masking, governance, compute, and cost optimization.
• Containerized apps via Docker; CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Experience building internal platforms or self-service tooling to boost developer productivity.
• Strong REST, OAuth/OIDC, secrets management, and identity patterns in cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for platform services.
• Operational ownership: runbooks, alerts, on-call design, post-incident analysis.
• Interest in semantic layer design and AI-native data tooling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement platform features for data apps at scale.
• Build and maintain integrations with CI/CD and identity systems.
• Strengthen data access governance and secure views across analytics infra.
• Automate toil and enable self-service for platform users.
• Improve observability, telemetry, and incident response capabilities.
• Participate in on-call coverage and platform maintenance.
• Contribute to roadmap: semantic layer infra and AI-enabled tooling.
• Maintain high standards in code reviews and reliability.
