Job summary

Affirm is seeking a senior Data Platform Engineer to join the Data and Storage Services team. You will help build, operate, and extend data infrastructure across OLTP and OLAP systems to enable scalable data applications.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience operating a cloud analytical data platform (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery) with governance and cost optimization.
• Experience building and operating containerized applications and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience building internal platforms and self‑service infrastructure to improve developer productivity.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, OAuth/OIDC, secrets management, and SSO in cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for building reliable platform services.
• Strong operational ownership, incident response, and runbook creation.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement platform features enabling engineers to build, deploy, and operate data applications at scale.
• Build and maintain integrations between the platform and internal systems (CI/CD, identity management, external APIs).
• Design and operate secure data access patterns (RBAC, data masking, secure views).
• Identify recurring support patterns and build self-service tooling to reduce manual admin work.
• Improve observability, telemetry, alerting, and incident response with runbooks and patterns.
