Job summary

Affirm is a remote-first company redefining credit, offering a flexible, pay-later experience. The Data and Storage Services team builds scalable data infrastructure across OLTP/OLAP, ensuring secure, trusted access for analytics and applications.

This role focuses on platform reliability, self-service capabilities, and semantic layer tooling. You will design, operate, and extend systems enabling data teams to work at scale, with on-call duties and ownership of incident resolution.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a cloud analytic data platform with governance and cost controls.
• Containerized app delivery, Docker image mgmt, CI/CD pipelines and rollout practices.
• Experience building internal platforms, developer tooling, or self-service infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for building reliable platform services.
• Strong ownership: instrumentation, runbooks, alerts, and durable incident fixes.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate core platform capabilities for data applications at scale, including provisioning, pipelines, access control, and reliability tooling.
• Develop integrations between the platform and internal systems (CI/CD, identity, external APIs, event-driven hooks).
• Strengthen data access and governance with RBAC, secure views, masking, and cross-database grants.
• Automate toil and enable self-service for platform users (provisioning, failures, secrets management).
• Improve observability and incident response with telemetry, alerts, and runbooks.
• Support platform operations: on-call coverage, triage incidents, maintenance.
• Contribute to roadmap: semantic layer infrastructure and AI-native tooling.
• Raise engineering standards in code reviews and operational readiness.
