Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate core data platform capabilities at scale. You will enable data teams to securely access and process data across OLTP and OLAP systems, with a focus on reliability, governance, and self-service.

You will own platform integrations, RBAC, data masking, and secure access patterns while advancing semantic layer infrastructure and AI-ready tooling.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a cloud analytical data platform with governance, cost optimization, and elevated privileges awareness.
• Containerized application experience: Docker image management, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation.
• Experience building internal platforms, developer tooling, and self-service infrastructure to boost productivity.
• Experience integrating systems via REST APIs, OAuth/OIDC, webhook ingestion, secrets management, and managed SSO patterns.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for building reliable, maintainable platform services.
• Strong operational ownership: runbooks, alerts, on-call, and root-cca analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement platform features enabling engineers to build, deploy, and operate data apps at scale.
• Build and maintain integrations between the platform and internal systems (CI/CD, identity, external APIs).
• Strengthen data access and governance across analytical infrastructure (RBAC, secure views, dynamic masking).
• Automate toil and enable self-service for provisioning, failures, and health management.
• Improve observability, telemetry, alerts, and runbooks to reduce blast radius and recovery time.
• Participate in on-call coverage and platform maintenance with care for engineers and workflows.
• Contribute to the platform roadmap: semantic layer, AI-native tooling, agentic patterns.
• Set high standards in code reviews, operational readiness, and incident follow-through.
