Affirm is reinventing credit and building a robust data infrastructure. The Data and Storage Services team manages data across OLTP and OLAP, batch, streaming, BI, and semantic layers to enable scalable, trustworthy analytics.

This role focuses on the platform and applications layer—designing, operating, and extending systems that empower teams to work with data at scale. You will advance reliability, self-service, and AI-ready tooling across the data stack.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a cloud analytical data platform with governance and cost optimization.
• Containerized applications and deployment automation in production.
• Experience building internal platforms and self-service tooling for engineers.
• Comfort building integrations between systems and secure access patterns.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for platform services.
• Strong operational instincts with runbooks and alerts.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate core platform capabilities for data apps at scale.
• Develop integrations between the platform and internal systems and APIs.
• Design secure data access patterns and governance.
• Automate toil and enable self-service for platform users.
• Improve observability, telemetry, and incident response.
• Participate in on-call coverage and platform maintenance.
• Contribute to next-generation platform capabilities and AI-native tooling.
• Raise engineering standards through design reviews and operational discipline.
