Job summary

Affirm is seeking a highly experienced Data Platform Engineer to build and operate a scalable data infrastructure across OLTP/OLAP systems. You will design secure access, governance, and cost-efficient pipelines while enabling self-service capabilities for diverse product teams.

The role emphasizes reliability, observability, and AI-ready tooling within a remote-first environment. You'll collaborate with the Data and Storage Services team to advance semantic layer infrastructure, agentic data

Qualifications

• Experience operating a cloud analytical data platform with governance and cost optimization.
• Experience building and deploying containerized apps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ability to design internal platforms and self-service tooling.
• Familiar with REST APIs, OAuth/OIDC, secrets management, and network configurations.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement platform features for data applications at scale.
• Build integrations between the platform and CI/CD, identity, external APIs, and event-driven hooks.
• Design secure data access patterns and governance across analytical infrastructure.
• Automate toil and enable self-service for platform users.
• Improve observability, alerting, and incident response with runbooks and playbooks.
• Participate in on-call coverage and platform maintenance with care for engineers.
• Contribute to the platform roadmap for semantic layer and AI-native tooling.
• Maintain high standards in code reviews and operational readiness.
