Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to build and operate the data platform that supports our analytics, checkout, and data tooling at scale. You will design self‑service access, enforce governance, and improve reliability across the primary data stack.

In this remote‑first role, you will collaborate with engineering, security, and product teams to implement fault‑tolerant pipelines, secure access patterns, and robust deployment practices for production services.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a cloud analytical data platform with governance.
• Experience with RBAC, data masking, and governance controls.
• Builds and operates containerized apps & CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop internal platforms and self-service tooling.
• Proficient in Python and SQL for platform services.
• Strong on-call and incident ownership.
• Interest in semantic layer and AI-ready tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate core platform capabilities for data apps at scale.
• Develop integrations with CI/CD, identity, external APIs.
• Strengthen data access and governance across analytics infra.
• Automate toil and enable self-service for platform users.
• Improve observability, telemetry, alerts, and runbooks.
• Participate in on-call coverage and platform maintenance.
• Contribute to platform roadmap including semantic layer and AI tooling.
• Raise engineering bar through code reviews and incident follow-through.
