Job summary

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. seeks an experienced, independent Bookkeeper to manage a diverse portfolio of client accounts. You will perform full reconciliations, payroll processing, and general ledger tasks, maintaining high accuracy with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of progressive bookkeeping experience.
• Intermediate to advanced understanding of core bookkeeping principles and internal controls.
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online with solid experience in payroll and fixed assets.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive Reconciliations: Perform full monthly bank, credit card, and loan statement reconciliations, independently identifying and resolving complex transactional discrepancies.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Prepare and post standard and adjusting journal entries, maintain accurate fixed asset registers, and calculate depreciation schedules.
• Advanced AP/AR Operations: Manage client vendor payments, oversee accounts receivable aging analysis, and execute proactive collections workflows.
• Payroll Execution: Handle regular payroll processing cycles, guarantee exact calculations, and assist with year-end and periodic payroll tax filings.
• Account Autonomy: Maintain timely, precise records for multiple client accounts simultaneously, executing tasks independently with minimal oversight.
