Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. is seeking an experienced, independent Bookkeeper to manage a diverse client portfolio with full reconciliations, payroll, and fixed assets. The role requires accuracy and strong communication in a high-density ledger environment.

You'll perform bank and ledger reconciliations, post journal entries, manage AP/AR, process payroll cycles, and oversee multiple client accounts with minimal supervision, while maintaining firm standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of progressive, hands-on bookkeeping experience.
• Intermediate to advanced understanding of core bookkeeping principles, internal controls, and standard corporate accounting practices.
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and familiarity with Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive reconciliations: Full monthly bank, credit card, and loan statement reconciliations; identify and resolve complex discrepancies.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Prepare and post standard and adjusting journal entries; maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
• Advanced AP/AR Operations: Manage vendor payments, AR aging analysis, and proactive collections workflows.
• Payroll Execution: Handle regular payroll cycles; ensure accurate calculations and assist with year-end payroll filings.
• Account Autonomy: Maintain records for multiple client accounts with minimal oversight.
• Work Review: QA transactional entries for data specialists to ensure accuracy.
• Specialized Accounting Projects: Lead historical clean-up efforts and special financial projects.
