Job summary

Affirm is seeking an experienced backend engineer to own and deliver quarterly goals for a cloud-based batch compute platform. You will lead engineers, collaborate with product, design and analytics, and help translate ideas into scalable, reliable systems.

We value Python or Kotlin, distributed systems on AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes, and experience with Airflow or similar workflow tools. You will help scale data pipelines and design elegant, maintainable code while mentoring teammates and improving

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
• Experience building highly available distributed systems on AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Experience with workflow orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Flyte, Prefect, Temporal, Luigi).

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team and guide engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics to translate requirements into implementable solutions.
• Identify and drive解决 project, process or technology issues and advocate for improvements.
• Support operations and on-call efforts to maintain service reliability.
• Promote code quality by setting design and code review standards and mentoring teammates.
